Client Work
To us, the best client is one who pushes us to explore new concepts, technologies, and tools. Take Five Labs has had the privilege of working with several such inspirational clients. For each we strove not only to make their vision into a reality, but also to show them a result they didn't know was possible.

One of the greatest dangers to our national parks is the spread of invasive plants, but until now the only way to track their growth has been with handwritten forms. The Center for Embedded Networked Sensing at UCLA is trying to solve the problem by crowdsourcing it. Their system, What’s Invasive, aggregates and analyzes geo-tagged photos of the plants submitted by park visitors. When CENS sought to bring What’s Invasive to the iPhone, they looked to us to develop an intuitive, user-friendly app. Download the result for free from iTunes. |

The creative agency Digital Kitchen is renowned for its innovative work in marketing and entertainment. As the Official Film Production Partner for the Webby Awards, DK sought to create an entertainment-themed graphical display of feeds from user generated content sites. When crunch time hit, DK turned to us in collaboration with UCLA's Center for Embedded Networked Sensing to design a backend framework for their showpiece. The result is TwitFlick. It pulls real-time feeds from Twitter and then pulls relevant images from Flickr based on those words, telling a story in the process. | ![]() |
