I’m currently flying somewhere high above the lower 48 on a Wi-Fi enabled Delta flight. This in itself is not news - as of today 150 of Delta’s 300 domestic planes are equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi. What surprised me is the speed and openness of the service. I was worried that streaming audio/video might be rough and that anything fun or useful would be blocked. Quite the contrary: I’m watching TV on Hulu without any problems, AIM and Skype work fine (including voice calls), and SSH is open so I can tunnel out if anything is in fact blocked. Nice work, Gogo.
